Children’s bedtime routine
Client: Loughborough University
Responsibilities: Industrial Designer
Creating a bedtime routine for young children can be challenging for parents with over 76% saying they would like to change some aspects of their routine. Challenge was to create a solution which would help improve a child’s current bedtime routine.
Identified user needs by conducting user research. Included interviewing parents on current betime routines and visiting nurseries to understand how childcares encourage children to sleep.
Initial concept generation, created multiple paper sketch and model mock ups which were iterated into a final design with a range of bedtime story books. A fully working prototype was created from CAD files, which was then 3D printed before applying realistic materials (soft leather) and electronics which were key to the products function.
The prototype was user tested at a range of workshops at mum meet ups and nurseries before developing a brand marketing solution for the product and a range of professional bedtime story books.
Launched snooze stories (bedtime books) after successful crowdfunding and was able to produce over 500 books which were sold.
