Metal traders biggest digital change
Client: London Metal Exchange
Responsibilities: User Researcher
A traditional financial institution steeped in history, the London Metal Exchange (LME) is refreshing its entire trading infrastructure. Embarking on a programme of work to fully rebuild its electronic trading platform, LMEselect. They needed all trading and administrative functions in one platform delivered as an MVP, coined as Monitoring & Control (M&C).
Over 25 hours of research to understand complexity of the industry, created research templates handed over to the client for future use. Ran several workshops around design thinking, product vision, design principles and idea generation. Introduced UXD process tailored for LME on its own design journey as they build this discipline. Ensured user testing included in every delivery sprint and planned how to avoid testing bias due to a small pool of users. Contributed to building a design system for the M&C product, strategically planned so design patterns and component library could be reused for future products meaning consistency for users and reducing development effort.
A 15-month engagement, an 8-week discovery followed by a delivery phase. Exposing client teams to agile ways of working and successfully upskilled while introducing user experience design from scratch to the organisation. A design system built from the ground up with an accompanying component library to successfully deliver M&C MVP.
